Before you can begin your Parent-Taught Driver Education in Texas, you must order the official PTDE packet from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Step 1: Visit the TDLR Website
Go to www.tdlr.texas.gov and navigate to the Parent Taught Driver Education page.
Step 2: Complete the Application
Fill out the Parent-Taught Driver Education application. You'll need:

Step 3: Pay the $20 Fee
TDLR charges a $20 fee for the PTDE packet. Payment is processed online at the time of application.

After purchase, TDLR will email you a download link for your PTDE packet. Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it within a few minutes. The packet includes:
- The Parent-Taught Driver Education Program Guide
- DL-91B instruction log (14-hour log)
- 30-hour practice driving log
